With two locations in the city limits of Myrtle Beach, we can serve both the north and south end of the Grand Strand. We offer everything you need to make your vacation one to remember.
Safety is our number one priority, so rest assured that you will enjoy a secure and adventurous beach day with us. With highly qualified and trained professionals, we cater to your every need on the water. All captains have certifications in CPR and first aid, in addition to being US Coast Guard licensed.
Downwind Sails Watersports is an active member of the WSIA-Water Sports Industry Association and is inspected by the United States Coast Guard. Our equipment is approved and tested by ASTM International- American Society for Testing and Materials.

David Hearl
OWNER / OPERATING MANAGER
David is one of the owners and the operating manager at Downwind Sails. He is locally born and raised and runs a tight ship daily here at Downwind. His strong passion for life, family, and friends is what fuels his positive attitude around the workplace and keeps his employees and customers safe and smiling.
Morgan Williams
OPERATIONS MANAGER
Morgan is originally from Myrtle Beach and has spent close to a decade working for Downwind Sails. After graduating from Clemson University with her degree in Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Management, Morgan has taken the reins as assistant manager and director of marketing. When she is not working, Morgan also takes time to enjoy snowboarding, friends, family and all of her adorable animals.
Ava Hall
MARKETING COORDINATOR
Ava was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Myrtle Beach to attend Coastal Carolina University. She has spent the past few summers working at the beach as Downwind’s marketing coordinator, using her marketing degree. When she’s not working, you’ll still find Ava on the beach either reading a book or catching a fish!
